Yamaha Digital Pianos

Yamaha digital pianos offer professional quality sound with an acoustic quality touch, making it the ideal instrument for practicing at home or on the road or performing solo or in a band. Yamaha brings top-shelf technologies to its latest digital piano models, including advanced sampling methods and the ultra-expressive GH (graded hammer) keyboard. Now, musicians will never be forced to choose between quality and portability--Yamaha digital pianos deliver the best of both worlds. When you buy a Yamaha digital piano, you'll get the quality you would expect from a company that's been building acoustic pianos for more than 100 years.

Realistic Sound, Dynamic Expression

To create a realistic concert grand sound, Yamaha hand-picked one of their finest 9-foot concert grand acoustic pianos. Then, a master piano technician painstakingly tuned and regulated the piano to concert-quality perfection. Yamaha then applied their Pure CF Sampling technology to accurately capture every shade and color of the acoustic concert grand, keeping post-processing to a minimum in order to maintain sonic integrity. The result is nothing less than a truly authentic concert grand piano sound with powerful, dynamic bass, warm mid-range and crystal clear highs.

Layer upon Layer

Using Yamaha's Dynamic Stereo Sampling (DDS) technology, the incredibly natural 4-level piano sample is a breakthrough achievement for digital pianos. Depending on the pressure with which you strike a note, you will hear one of four different piano recordings on each and every key, which provides an unprecedented level of tonal expression and dynamic range. Playing softly goes beyond simply lowering the volume. Instead, you'll hear the quiet recordings of piano notes, complete with the subtleties of sound you would hear from a piano played pianissimo. Likewise, playing forte triggers a recording of an acoustic piano played forcefully.

A Touch Above

If you look inside the lid of a grand piano, you'll see that different sized strings require different sized hammers. Different sized hammers have different weights, which affects the feel of the action. Yamaha's P-155 digital piano utilizes their GH (Graded Hammer) technology ti replicate the true "feel" of a grand piano keyboard action, with a heavier touch in the bass, a lighter touch in the treble, and subtle gradations of weight and response throughout. Practicing or performing on a P-155 digital piano properly develops and maintains an artist's technique, making the transition between digital and acoustic seamless.
